The SEJ Academy sides were fortunate to play their games over the Kings Birthday weekend with the weather being accommodating and the games being well attended with crowds. Our games were played at Marriott Waters and Livingstone Reserve with both facilities providing an excellent venue for the day.

Both days of football provided our players, both girls and boys with the opportunity to put into practice what we have been working towards in our Academy and the players did not disappoint. Whilst there were mixed results in regards to the scores, our aim is all about the process and the development of these players and to that end we felt as though we certainly achieved this. Players were introduced to a new game plan, rotations and different positions to challenge them and help provide them with the necessary steps to learn and take forward on their football journey. This we believe was a fantastic step forward that all players took and enjoyed taking.

From a personal and SEJ Academy point of view I would like to thank everybody that volunteered and helped over the duration of the carnival so far and to the people helping within the SEJ Academy.

As Head Coach of the SEJ Academy/interleague Girl's program, Myself and all the coaches couldn't have been more impressed with how the carnival started on Saturday at with all girls' teams really showing off their learnings from our 12-week Fundamentals program.

This was only enhanced when they backed up on the Monday for 2 games in 3 Days.

As our programme is not results driven it was still great seeing The U14 Girls have back-to-back wins while the U16 Girls has 1W & 1L.

Our U18 girls were so excited to be playing and even with a couple of losses they still had smiles on their faces when leaving the ground. And also seeing our first ever U12 girls running around against West Gippsland along with our U14 Girls Div 2 team getting in another game was brilliantly organised.

We now have our Div 2 sides training this week with the rest to join back next week for our final training sessions before the final Game 3 in Div 1 and the upcoming second tier comp in the school holidays.

A very big thankyou to all involved in getting this carnival up and running and to all the parents that put up their hands to fill the positions needed to run these games it is very much appreciated.
