This free program is tailored to all female coaches or female players/umpires wanting to transition into coaching.

Coaches in the program will learn AFL strategy and trends, be exposed to scenarios of day-to-day coaching at the top level, have access to online courses specifically targeting coaching and receive advice about developing and applying for roles in the future.

Principal Advisor – Office for Women in Sport and Recreation, Elise Cafarella said the program provided a number of important elements.

“We identified the She Can Coach program as an excellent opportunity to develop defined pathways for women to succeed in as coaches in what is a traditionally male dominated sport.

“We know the important role mentoring plays in ensuring women and girls are able to reach their potential off the field. This program is a fantastic opportunity for coaches to access mentoring, learn skills from a number of different sectors including sport and business and to enhance their networks.” Cafarella said.
