O’Connor appointed General Manager, Operations of AFL South East.
AFL South East would like to announce that following the resignation of Head of Operations, George Morgan, current Senior Football & Region Umpire Manager, Haydn O’Connor has been appointed as General Manager, Operations.
We thank George Morgan for his contribution, and the role he played at a time when the region experienced significant change of leadership. George immediately provided a calm and measured approach to assist in stabilising the regions administration. We wish him all the very best in his future endeavors.
Haydn has been with AFL South East since May 2021, as initially the Senior Football Operations Coordinator, and then since July 2022, the role of Senior Football & Umpiring Manager. In this time, he has overseen the MPFNL competition and the navigation of the cancelled 2021 season, the successful 2022 year on the back of COVID-19 and provided guidance and leadership with the transition to the MPFNL Board Governance in 2023. Since taking on the Umpiring Department, the expediential growth in Umpiring has seen an increase of over 20% across all participants and 40% in female recruitment.
Prior to AFL South East, Haydn gained a wealth of knowledge across community football and umpiring, having fulfilled roles with the Victorian Amateur Football Association and AFL Queensland.
He has an intrinsic knowledge of the region, having grown up in the area, participated as a footballer at junior level, umpire at senior level and now will look to continue to strengthen AFL South East’s service agreements with our competitions at this level of administration.
